Overview of Club: Southerndown Surf Life Saving Club has its base at Dunraven Bay, Southerndown on the Glamorgan Heritage Coast. All summer training, beach patrols and activities take place at Dunraven Bay whilst Atlantic College St. Donats is the venue used for winter training. The club currently has about 180 active members. These are categorised according to age ranging from Nipper through to Junior, Senior and Master.

The aims and objectives of the club as stated in its constitution are:

To safeguard and prevent loss of life.
To promote demonstrations and to arrange classed of instruction in the principles of life saving.

These aims and objectives are achieved as a result of the club providing facilities for participation in organised life saving and at the same time encouraging and achieving the highest standards of team work and expertise in water safety and resuscitation techniques.

The local and wider community benefit from the clubs activities by offering its members, who are all from the local area, opportunities to participate in organised life saving, water sports and other recreational activities and by ensuring that all members of the public who use Dunraven Bay benefit by having trained lifesavers working on a voluntary basis providing a vital public service.
