April 7th - A short note from Phil Rees our Membership Secretary

With apologies to RSPCA can I quote "a membership number is just not for Christmas it is for life"

What will we be doing with these membership numbers, take two examples:

1.  Examinations.  Unless registered as an external candidate and paying the appropriate fee, no award certificates will be issued if the candidate is not on our MIS.

2.  Sport.  Starting with this summer's Welsh Championships, when inputting competitors details on the entry forms, the only requirement will be to input the membership number and events to be entered.  If an individual is not a member, it will not be possible to enter their personal details.

In the short term future, all SLSA Wales events which require individuals to be members and register to take part, will be covered by the MIS. Awards details.  These will now be inputted into the MIS in the next couple of weeks.  You will be able to view these awards but not change or add any details.  Any errors will need to be pointed out to Will Hedges, Technical Director for correction.

October 15th - IRB CHAMPIONSHIPS
SLSA Wales Powercraft Commission is considering holding an Open IRB Championships from 2009 and would like input from Clubs regarding the feasibility of holding such an event in Wales.

The Vale of Glamorgan Council have expressed an interest in hosting an IRB Competition and subject to approval by the Clubs it is anticipated that the inaugural competition would be held in Barry in mid September or early October 2009.

Teams from Wales have previously competed in IRB Championships in Australia and GB with some success and following several requests from members the Powercraft Commission would like to investigate the feasibility of holding a Welsh Championships. In order to make the competition happen we would need a minimum total of 6 boats so support from the Clubs would be essential to make the event happen.

If you have any comments to make or require any additional information regarding the proposed running of this event please email powercraft@slsawales.org before our next management meeting on 11 November.
