July 3rd - Due to the weather and the cancellation of the 2nd event at Aberavon in June, we are struggling to find dates to fit in another ranking and there are not many free weekends before the Welsh Championships.

In consultation with other managers we are proposing a twilight event at Aberavon on Thursday the 10th July, starting at 6pm. We realise that this will not suit some and it is very soon after the St David's. However, for the youth it will be a deciding ranking if it needs be whereas the Welsh championships may show a change in fitness levels for some of the seniors.

Please contact your team managers if you are unable to make the ranking events. However, we expect competitors to try to attend.

May 5th - The following petition has been accepted on the governments petition website.

We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to Remove the need for the RNLI and Lifesaving Clubs to Pay VAT on Equipment Intended to Provide Rescue Services at Sea.

Currently Charities have to pay VAT on certain equipment that is used to provide a rescue service at Sea.  Lifeboats and  vessels are VAT excempt but Rescue Boards, Rescue Tubes, Signage, Trailers, Resuscitaton Equipment all need to have VAT paid on them.  This is unfair given that charities are raising funds to provide a rescue service and a proportion of their fundraising is then consumed by VAT.

Please click on the following link to sign this petition.

February 17th - Selection Criteria for the GB Team for Rescue 2008 can be found HERE. Please also note...

ILS has confirmed that the rule relating to interclub transfers will be strictly applied in the build up to this year's World Championships.  This rule means that once an individual has competed for a club at a national championships, regardless of where it is, then they will not be able to compete for any other club at the World Championships in that year. For example if someone competes for an Australian club in their championships this year then they would not be eligible to compete for their British club in Rescue 2008.  Please ensure that this is communicated to any competitor from your club who is abroad at the moment and intends to compete for a British club at Rescue 2008, before they enter a national championship in any other country.
